Pride: This is the flag that is most broadly known and used. It is an adapted version of the Gilbert Baker flag that was originally simplified due to fabric availability after its popularity grew. Baker’s flag was designed after Harvey Milk challenged him to design a symbol to represent the gay community.
It was first flown at the San Francisco Gay Freedom Day Parade in 1978.
