"Pamilya I," 2014
Original: watercolor and ink on paper
Pamilya (pah-MEEL-yuh) means "family" in Tagalog. This bug family portrait is the very first piece that Lola and I created together. When Lola finished laying down the watercolor, I asked her what she had painted. She said, "They are many people meeting each other, not for a long time. They are family. They can recognize themselves and each other."
