About Viva Calle SJ

During Viva Calle SJ, miles and miles of San Jose streets are closed to vehicle traffic. This allows bicyclists, walkers, skateboarders and general city explorers to traverse these streets safely, collectively and enjoyably. In its inaugural event last year, the event drew over 35,000 participants. This year projects to attract even more than that.

About SJMADE at the Park for Viva Calle SJ

After having its inaugural event only last year, Viva Calle SJ (vivacallesj.org) is already an amazing, hugely loved and highly visible San Jose event. With such a strong showing of San Jose people and San Jose spirit at the event, San Jose Made has decided to bring amazing local makers and local businesses as well as some amazing local food options to Arena Green park, one of the four hubs at Viva Calle SJ (see map below). These local maker booths will line the perimeter of the park while within Viva Calle SJ participants may park their bikes, relax, do yoga, possibly picnic and take in the beautiful day as well as live music from a nearby stage. Spend a beautiful day outside while meeting and shopping amazing local makers? What could be better?

With so many people out and about along the route and getting in some good, clean exercising, our goal is to provide a venue where the participants can relax and potentially picnic on what is sure to be a great day to be outside. We'll have food and drink options to complement Viva Calle SJ's live music stage. However, the core piece of the event and in conjunction with the strong local spirit of the whole event is the amazing local makers and businesses who we'll place around the picnic area. Like with some of our events, our goal is to heighten the visibility of our city's great local makers by placing them at events and areas where we know there will be a heavy amount of foot traffic.
